I am writing to add my support for Mike Karraker, a candidate for the Ellensburg School Board in the upcoming election. I believe that  Mike understands the importance of both a safe learning environment and a forward-thinking education in the Ellensburg schools.

Mike Karraker is a local business owner with a deep commitment to our community. Mike is an advocate for others and serves on the Affordable Housing and Homelessness board for the county. As a parent and community member, he recognizes the need for schools to provide not only safety but also an environment where critical thinking is encouraged. He believes that every student should have the tools to think independently, solve problems, and make informed decisions. Mike knows that usable skills and the ability to learn are vital.

One of Mike’s priorities is expanding hands-on technical classes that prepare students for success in a real world work environment.. With the growing demand for skilled workers in various trades and industries, Mike is committed to ensuring that our students are equipped with the technical skills they need to thrive in today’s job environment.

Mike encourages the responsible use of technology in the classroom. As the use of AI continues to grow, he advocates educating students on its informational, safe and ethical uses. With Mike’s leadership, our schools would take a balanced approach, teaching students how to use emerging technologies as tools for creativity and problem-solving, while also fostering an awareness of their potential impacts on society.
